La Salle edges Prep for Catholic League title

Ryan Winslow's extra point gives 28-27 win in OT

La Salle edges Prep for Catholic League title

Both teams scored in overtime, but La Salle's successful extra point was the difference as the Explores topped St. Joseph's Prep, 28-27, in the Catholic League football final.

On La Salle's possession of overtime, La Salle's Sean Coleman hauled in his fourth-touchdown of the game to tie the score at 27. Kicker Ryan Winslow converted the game-winning extra point for the win.

It's the Explorers fifth-straight league title. It's the sixth title for head coach Drew Gordon.

With 16.1 seconds left in regulation, the Hawks missed a potential game-winning 40-yard field goal. And then St. Joe's missed the ensuing extra point after Olamide Zaccheaus scored on the opening play of overtime.

More to come from The Inquirer's Rick O'Brien.
