Hoops: Prep's Overton commits to Wake Forest

POSTED: Sunday, September 23, 2012, 6:49 PM

St. Joseph's Prep guard Miles Overton has committed to play his college hoops at Wake Forest.

Overton took an official visit this weekend. "He loved it there," Prep coach Speedy Morris said. "He likes the coaches, and he enjoyed the time he spent with the players."

The 6-foot-4 senior also had scholarship offers from Xavier and Marquette, among others. Locally, St. Joseph's and Drexel were in hot pursuit.

Overton's father, Doug, was a star guard at Dobbins High and La Salle University. He went on to play in the NBA, including a stop with the 76ers. He is now an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets.
