Girard College beat World Communications, 71-57, in the third place of the game of the Walter D. Palmer Winter Basketball Classic at West Philadelphia on Sunday.

But that wasn't what made the game notable.

World Communications played with just five healthy players. Six showed up for the game, but one was too ill to play much, so the Stallions' five starters played nearly the entire game. A few of them got in foul trouble, but they all made it to the end.

Zamir Andrews, Marvin Bell, Darius Moore, Robert Moore and Ichywond Savage were the five iron men for World Communications.

Impressively, World Communications trailed by just eight points at the break.

Nicholas Jones led Girard College with 21 and Jihad Barnes added 19.
