Garnet Valley senior Allyson Heavens received a 2012 Michael Breschi scholarship on Friday from U.S. Lacrosse.

Established in 2007, the scholarship is awarded to two graduating seniors who plan to attend college and are the son or daughter of a lacrosse coach. It honors the memory of Michael Breschi, the son of North Carolina's men's coach Joe Breschi.

Also receiving the scholarship is Maddy Blakeman of St. Edward's (Fla.) School.

“I am so surprised and excited to be a 2012 recipient of the Michael Breschi Scholarship,” Heavens said in a statement. “I’d like to thank US Lacrosse and the Breschi family for this selection and my dad, who is the best teacher and coach there is. I promise to do my best to achieve my academic and athletic goals at Penn State.”
