With his team trailing by three goals at halftime, Conestoga boys' lacrosse coach Brian Samson challenged his team on Tuesday afternoon.

They could play harder, he said. He thought they were just "jogging around."

The Pioneers answered their coaches challenge as they rallied to score six times in the second half, including Matt Schleicher's game winner, to top visiting Springfield (Delco), 8-7, in a Central League game.

"They rose to the occassion," Samson said. "They really locked it down."

The sophomore midfielder drew a defender into one-on-one coverage behind the net, moved around him with a dodge maneuver and fired the shot into the top side from 3 feet out with 5 minutes, 58 seconds left. Samson said Schleicher is a confident dodger, who uses his quickness to elude defenders.

Conestoga tied the game a minute earlier on a goal from Jack Robbins, off an assist by Jake Scott. Robbie Zonino posted the win with eight saves, including three key ones in the fourth.
