Just two days after capturing the Catholic League field hockey championship, Archbishop Carroll was bounced on Tuesday afternoon from the first round of the PIAA Class AA state playoffs.

The Patriots fell in double overtime to District 3’s Donegal, 4-3, at Germantown.

Megan Kelly scored a hat trick for Carroll and helped the team take a lead three times.
Donegal’s Karlee Farr tied the game with no time remaining in regulation before scoring the winner off a penalty stroke.

Carroll yielded 37 penalty corners and played down a player for the last six minutes of regulation and first four minutes of overtime.

Kelly’s penalty-stroke goal with 2 minutes, 35 seconds left in regulation put Carroll ahead, 3-2, before Farr answered.

Donegal’s Kylee Bair needed just five saves for the win.
