It's been a busy summer so far for Traci Carter.
The rising junior point guard enrolled at Life Center Academy (N.J.) in June after spending last year at Roman Catholic. Carter is making frequent trips around the country with his New Jersey-based AAU club, WE R1, and this week is taking on some of country's top high school players at the Reebok Classic Breakout at Philadelphia University.
"This is how the competition should always be," said Carter.
Carter said he's worked out this summer with his cousin and Cleveland Cavaliers guard, Dion Waiters, and Los Angeles Clippers guard Maalik Wayns. A normal day for Carter consists of running in the morning, two-a-day workouts in the gym in the afternoon and evening strength training.
"Everything," Carter said when asked what he needs to work on. "There's room for improvement with everything."
Carter said he doesn't plan on visiting any schools this summer, but has a handful of offers to ponder. Local schools like St. Joseph's and La Salle have made offers, and Carter is also considering Penn State, Pittsburgh and Iowa, among others.
"I would go anywhere, but it's important to be close to home," said the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder. "That's where your family is, your support."
