Bill Iezzi: Shawnee Field Hockey Ranking

Unlike another area newspaper, which dropped Shawnee from 3d to 4th place in the rankings, I left the Renegades at No. 3 in South Jersey.

Shawnee is 11-2-1 and hasn't lost since Eastern, ranked 5th in the nation, beat the Renegades, 7-0, on Oct. 5.

The only other loss Shawnee suffered was 3-0 to Oak Knoll, a perennial power in North 2 Group 1, on Sept. 15.

Shawnee was tied, 1-1, by West Essex on Oct. 10 and the game stayed knotted in overtime. West Essex is the defending state champion in North 1 Group 2.

Get the picture? The Renegades have added some tough teams to their regular-season schedule, tougher than other teams' schedules in the area's Top 10. So they're staying put this week.
