Sam Greenfield scored a team-high 12 points, and the Archbishop Wood Vikings defeated Penn Charter, 48-32, Saturday in the first game of the Philly.com/Rally girls' basketball classic.
The Vikings scored the final 6 points of the first quarter to take a 20-11 lead, and then held the lead for the rest of the game.

gary milesIn the Public League AAAA quarterfiansl, Bartram got off to a good start, thanks to Al-Hajj Shabazz, in a 21-7 quarterfinal playoff football win over Central on Friday.
Shabazz scored on runs of 5 and 1 yards in the first half, and Brandon Jones put the game away with a 70-yard run in the fourth quarter after the Lancers (6-2) had closed to within a touchdown.
The Maroon Wave (7-2) led, 14-0, at the half.
Zeborah Flippen handled all of the scoring for Girls High in a 4-0 Public win over visiting Central.
Madira Holliman stopped two shots to earn the shutout in goal.
Kelsey Palmer notched a hat trick and boosted Washington past visiting Lincoln, 7-0.
Also scoring for the Eagles were Kale Carrero, Lyndsey Hoban, Yazmin Malter and Hilary McFillin.
Northeast spread the scoring around and tripped visiting Rhodes, 10-0.
Steph Candoi scored twice and was joined by teammates Jen Alcalde, Sarah Barbakoff, Sandi Chaziaras, Ashley Harkins, Steph Hughes, Paula Sitek, Erica Thompson and Julianne Timcho who collected single goals.
Maureen Hawkins scored the 100th goal of her career and could be the last Cardinal Dougherty soccer player to ever do so.
On a day when the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that Dougherty will close at the end of the school year, Hawkins scored twice to reach her milestone and the Cardinals downed visiting West Catholic, 6-0, in a Catholic League Blue Division game yesterday.
Hawkins also assisted on a pair of goals. Amanda Bassallo also scored twice, Andrea Dutch and Samantha Kidd contributed goals and Becky Searight chipped in with three assists. Brenna Coll posted the shutout in goal after stopping three shots.
C.J. Murphy notched a hat trick and Leanna Ashton scored twice to lead Hallahan past host Kennedy-Kenrick, 5-1.
Nicole Napori got the shutout in goal for Hallahan with four saves.
Erika Rauchut stopped 14 shots for St. Hubert and Erin Gallagher turned aside 13 shots for Little Flower in a 2-2 double-overtime tie.

Joe Bozzelli proved to be the difference for Cardinal Dougherty in a football win on Saturday night and yesterday made the same kind of difference in a 2-1 Catholic League Blue Division soccer win at Neumann-Goretti.Bozzelli hit a blast from 20 yards out that rocketed off the post and into the net to break a 1-1 tie with 15 minutes left.
Bozzelli, whose two extra points gave made the difference in a 14-12 win over Kennedy-Kenrick Saturday, capped a comeback that saw the Cardinals (2-9 overall, 2-7 league) rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Colin Strapp’s goal tied it early in the second half before Bozzelli won it.
