Glo. Catholic Wins State Baseball Title

Cody Brown helped Gloucester Catholic win its 14th state NJSIAA baseball championship with his arm and his bat. Brown pitched six plus innings to earn the win and drove in two runs with a third inning single in Gloucester Catholic’s 7-5 victory over Morristown-Beard in the state Non-Public B championship at Toms River North.

Cody Brown helped Gloucester Catholic win its 14th state NJSIAA baseball championship with his arm and his bat. Brown pitched six plus innings to earn the win and drove in two runs with a third inning single in Gloucester Catholic’s 7-5 victory over Morristown-Beard in the state Non-Public B championship at Toms River North.

 

After Brown surrendered a two-run home run to Zach Gray in the top of the seventh to cut the score to 7-5, freshman Michael Shawaryn came in and retired the next three batters to earn the save.

 

Sophomore Elliott McCummings hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning that proved to be the difference for the Rams, 24-7 and ranked No. 6 in South Jersey by The Inquirer.
