Baseball: Gloucester Catholic beats Shawnee

Freshman Mike Shawaryn pitched a two-hitter as Gloucester Catholic beat Shawnee 3-0 Saturday in the first round of the Grand Slam Classic baseball tournament.

Shawaryn, a right-hander, struck out seven and allowed just two hits. He three 82 pitches in a complete game.

Steve Wilgus scored two runs and Cody Brown and Brett Tenuto had RBI doubles for Gloucester Catholic (2-0), which faces Washington Township in Monday's semifinals.
