Wrestling: Paulsboro's Morina on verge of 500th win

Paulsboro coach Paul Morina can win his 500th match tonight as the Red Raiders host Colonial Conference rival West Deptford.

It should be a good match. Paulsboro is 16-1 and No. 2 in The Inquirer Top 10. West Deptford is 11-1 and No. 8.

West Deptford has a solid lineup and should be able to win five or six bouts. But Paulsboro is strong, should win the majority of bouts and register enough bonus points to score a fairly comfortable victory.

Of course, that's on paper. They still have to settle this on the mat, starting at 7 p.m.

Morinia is an astounding 499-29-4 in 25 years at his alma mater. His teams have won 23 state titles in his first 24 years, and are favored to capture No. 24 next month.
