Winslow Township’s boys’ basketball team has continued to take a winning u-turn after a slow start.
The Eagles began the season 3-5 but won their sixth in a row on Tuesday with a 67-60 victory over host Timber Creek in an Olympic Conference Patriot Division game.
Winslow Township is now 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the Patriot and during the stretch they have wins over two defending South Jersey champions. Those wins would be over state Group 4 champ Lenape and SJ Group 1 champion Woodbury.
And the win over Timber Creek avenged a 51-50 opening night loss to the Chargers.
“We’re playing defense and that has been the difference,” said Winslow Township first-year coach Jared Price.
Mike Simpson, a 6-6 senior scored 23 points and 6-6 junior Shawn Valentine added 19.
Timber Creek fell to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the Patriot Division.
