It was quite a weekend for Friends' Central.
The Phoenix followed a key league win over Abington Friends Saturday with a 64-51 triumph against Germantown Academy Sunday in Game 2 of the 11th annual Kobe Bryant/Philly.Com/Rally Classic at Widener University.
Amile Jefferson, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound junior forward, led Friends’ Central with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Senior Dominic Morris, a Boston University recruit, chipped in with 14 points, 13 boards and two steals.
It was a 28-28 contest at intermission. Fueled by switch to a man-to-man defense, Friends’ Central (15-2, 4-0 Friends Schools League) built a five-point advantage (43-38) by the end of the third quarter.
Bucknell-bound Cameron Ayers paced GA (11-5, 2-2) with a game-high 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Like Jefferson, he was selected his team’s most valuable player.
