Sherard Cadogan, a two-time Inquirer first-team all-South Jersey defensive end from Camden Catholic has made a verbal commitment to attend the University of Wisconsin.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pund Cadogan had 12 sacks this year and 26 in the past two seasons. He is the second Camden Catholic player to commit to Wisconsin, following quarterback Joe Brennan, who decided in the summer to become a part of the Big 10 program.
Cadogan said that Brennan’s presence didn’t influence his decision.
“Not at all,” said Cadogan, who is a starter on Camden Catholic’s basketball team that is ranked No. 2 in South Jersey by The Inqurier. “It’s just icing on the cake knowing somebody going there, but I wanted to go where I would have a chance to play and also get a good education.”
Despite his success on defense, Cadogan said he was recruited as an H-back or a tight end.
