Neumann-Goretti girls win consolation game

While most of the scholastic basketball teams were idle this weekend due to the snowstorm, the Neumann-Goretti girls were busy playing three games in the St. Andrew’s Classic in sunny Boca Raton, Fla.

The Saints ended their trip on a positive note with a 44-33 win over North Broward Prep (Fla.) in a consolation bracket game Monday.

Adriana Sciascia solidified her spot on the all-tournament team with 19 points. She made six of her 10 shots from the field and keyed a strong team defense with 11 steals.

Maureen Fiocca, who added 14 points, knocked down a pair of three-pointers and made both of her free throws.

The Saints (3-2) went 2-1 in Florida, with the only belmish being a one-point, second-round loss to Coconut Creek (Fla.).
