Briian Purnell ran 78 yards for one touchdown and Woodbury's defense dominated Paulsboro as the Thundering Herd scored a 16-0 victory in today's S.J. Group 1 title game.

It was Woodbury's first title since 1998. The Thundering Herd won their final 10 games to finish 11-1.

Paulsboro finished 10-2.

Purnell, a senior quarterback, broke loose down the left sideline for a touchdown to give Woodbury the lead early in the second quarter.

Woodbury held Paulsboro to 51 yards in the first half. Aamir Petrose and Karon Gibson combined for 5 sacks of Paulsboro quarterback Kevin Johnson.

The last sack produced a safety with around two minutes to play.
