AA Boys' State Championship: Octorara vs. Hampton In-Game Blog

HERSHEY -- Hey everyone, back for more soccer. Area teams are 1-0 after Christopher Dock's 2-1 victory in the Class A boys' title game. Octorara will look to make it two-for-two.

Greg Patrick has scored 10 goals in five postseason games for the Braves, so he will be the player to watch. If Patrick can get going, Octorara could win its first state championship since 1999.

Keep it here and refresh often for updates.

FINAL (Octorara 2, Hampton 1) -- District 1 is two-for-two. The Braves hold off Hampton to win their first state crown in 10 years.

77' -- Weathers nearly just added one of his own. He hit the crossbar...

68' -- GOAL! Sophomore Evan Wilson puts Hampton on the board to make it 2-1. And now Greg Patrick was just shown a yellow card for running into the keeper. We have a game.

65' -- An Octorara defender just headed a potential Hampton goal out of the box. Nice play as the defense is finally tested.

60' -- Wolff has barely been tested since the penalty kick. The Braves are doing a fine job of holding possession.

45' -- Good run by Carter, but his shot goes wide right. Octorara controlling most of the play.

HALF (Octorara 2, Hampton 0) -- 40 minutes in the books and the Braves are sitting pretty. A great half offensively and a good enough one on defense.

37' -- Zachary Carter was awarded a penalty kick but Josh Wolff guessed correctly and dove to his left for a spectacular save. Everything is going Octorara's way right now.

36' -- Topper rips one from 25 yards out that just skims the top of the netting. Solid strike.

30' --Wow, great chance for Hampton's Nathan Sobotka, who caught Wolff in no-man's land but drilled the crossbar.

28' -- GOAL! Octorara strikes again on almost the exact same play. A great throw-in by Weathers to Josh Topper, who heads it in. Braves are pouring it on now with a 2-0 lead.

26' -- GOAL! It's Patrick on a great finish off a fantastic throw-in by Justin Weathers. Patrick has his 11th of the playoffs, 1-0 Octorara.

25' -- A redirection by Patrick is stopped by Lichina.

18' -- A pretty run by by Andrew Weston results in a spectacular save by John Lichina. Good scoring chance for Octorara.

16' -- A few good chances for each team, but nothing significant.

12' -- Another good run by the Braves leads to a second corner kick.

7' -- Great chance for Hampton but a header rings off the crossbar. Then an offsides call.

1' -- Patrick had a good chance right away but a Hampton defender knocked it away.

PREGAME -- Hampton is nicknamed the Talbots (original, yes) and come from District 7. The school is located in Allison Park. The Talbots finished 13-3 during the regular season.
