GROUP 4 STATE FINAL

FINAL: Lenape 1, Westfield 0 (OT)

Lenape finished 23-1 and Westfield 21-1-2

Lenape has won its third straight state title after Katie Rigby headed in a corner kick from Chelsea Cannon with 5:37 left in the first overtime to give the Indians a 1-0 win over Westfield.

The game moved into the first sudden death OT. Teams play two 10-minute periods. If nobody scores, they will be declared cochampions.

This is a game that has been played between the midfields, with neither team has had a great scoring chance.

Lenape’s Katie Rigby just missed getting her foot on the ball in front and goalie Meg Brody scooped it up early in the second half.

Rigby had a few times when she was near the goal, but Brody, who is quick off her line, was able to beat her to the ball.

No team had a great scoring chance in the first half, although Lenape’s Rigby was sent on goal by Devon Betsch and was just beaten to the ball by Brody.

Lenape      0 0 1 - 1

Westfield  0 0 0 – 0
