Tyler Powell made the big defensive plays and Sean Farrell scored three touchdowns as Cherokee beat Williamstown 30-21 in the Group 4 semifinals.
Powell recovered a fumble and tackled Williamstown's Marcus Hampton after a five-yard gain on a screen pass on 4th-and-8 from the Williamstown 42 with four minutes to play. The Braves were behind 23-21 at the time.
Cherokee took over and scored an insurance touchdown on Mike Zeuli's 15-yard run.
Farrell scored on runs of 2, 4 and 18 yards.
Cherokee will host the S.J. final Dec. 5.

The touchdown came after Cherokee recovered a Willliamtown fumble at the Braves' 44-yard line.
Williamstown took a 21-17 halftime lead over Cherokee in a Group 4 playoff game tonight.
The Braves got two touchdowns from Marcus Hampton and one from Ron Gordon, all three on runs of four yards or less. But the key to the Braves’ offensive success was the passing of quarterback Billy McCarty.
The senior who has spent most of the season handing off to the Braves’ productive running backs spent the first half throwing darts into the Cherokee secondary. McCarty was 6-for-6 passing for 141 yards in the first 24 minutes.
