Bill Iezzi: Palmyra's Soccer Goalie

Tim Brett, Palmyra's soccer goaltender, was sensational Tuesday in the Panthers' 4-1 penalty kick victory over Metuchen in a state Group 1 semifinal.

The tall and rangy senior stopped 14 shots, 12 during regulation, one in the first overtime period and one penalty kick.

If Palmyra's top scorer, Ryan Butler, returns for Saturday's state championship game, the Panthers have a real shot at the school's first boys' state soccer title with him shooting goals and Brett stopping them.

Brett has 11 shutouts and Butler has 21 goals.

Palmyra is scheduled to play Jonathan Dayton at 4:30 p.m. at Hillsborough.
