Bill Iezzi: Paul VI Football Standout

It's not often that a defensive back has the kind of game Brett Pierce had against Burlington Township last night.

Paul VI's 5-8, 160-pound senior intercepted three passes, carrying the last one 60 yards to the end zone to score the winning touchdown in a 20-14 Burlco/Olympic Patriot victory.

The big heist was in the second period. In the third quarter, Pierce stopped a Township scoring drive by ripping a 15-yard pass out of the hands of Vinnie Pini at the Paul VI 1-yard line.

About 4 minutes later Pierce skyjacked a pass at Township's 21-yard line. But the Eagles turned over the ball on the ensuing drive.
