Wednesday boys' soccer

Joe Bozzelli proved to be the difference for Cardinal Dougherty in a football win on Saturday night and yesterday made the same kind of difference in a 2-1 Catholic League Blue Division soccer win at Neumann-Goretti.Bozzelli hit a blast from 20 yards out that rocketed off the post and into the net to break a 1-1 tie with 15 minutes left. Bozzelli, whose two extra points gave made the difference in a 14-12 win over Kennedy-Kenrick Saturday, capped a comeback that saw the Cardinals (2-9 overall, 2-7 league) rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Colin Strapp’s goal tied it early in the second half before Bozzelli won it.

Archbishop Ryan broke open a close game with four second-half goals in a 6-1 win at Monsignor Bonner. The Raiders (8-3-2, 4-3-2) got a pair of goals from Dan Panepresso and single goals from Nick Ferry, Pat Hazelbarth, Kevin Mack and Tim Stahl.

Rob Poli scored a goal in each half for host St. Joseph’s Prep in a 2-0 win over North Catholic.
Charlie Lewis had 11 saves in goal for the Hawks (6-3-2, 5-2-2).

Tom Baker and Chris Wilson scored as Archbishop Wood earned a 2-0 win at Kennedy-Kenrick.
Baker provided the assist on Wilson’s goal and Matt Friend had three saves in goal for the Vikings (6-4-1).

Nick Morris scored on a direct kick 45 seconds into the game for the winning goal as Father Judge topped host La Salle, 2-0. Matt Keown also scored an insurance goal in the second half for the Crusaders (11-1-1, 7-1-1).

At the United German-Hungarian Club, Matt DiLiegro scored twice for Conwell-Egan in a 3-0 win over Bishop McDevitt.
Public. Keishawn Daly scored two goals for Bartram in a 4-1 win at Southern.
Marcus Malave and Ray Melone also scored for the Coyotes.

Antony Dunor’s second-half goal gave host Bartram (7-0-1) a 1-0 win over Central, keeping the Maroon Wave (7-0-1) unbeaten.
Bartram’s Jefferson Banto had eight saves in goal.

Ahmed Tejan Janneh scored both goals for Northeast in a 2-0 win at rival Washington.


Sububan One Continental.

Kyle Nelson’s goal gave Souderton a 1-0 win at Central Bucks West. Nelson finished off a ball headed to him by Christian Benner.

Goals by Chris Davidson and Brendan Gorman gave North Penn a 2-0 win at Hatboro-Horsham.
Suburban One Continental. Ryan Apt, a senior, scored on Senior Night to give host Central Bucks East a 1-0 win over Quakertown.
The Knights (8-2-1, 6-2-1) also got assists from Mike McGuire and Su Kwok.

Suburban One American.

 Kevin Matthews scored a pair of unassisted goals for Wissahickon in a 2-0 win at rival Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Penn-Jersey. Mike Bang and Chris Wavel each scored twice for host Solebury School in a 4-1 win over Girard College.
