Tuesday's field hockey roundup

Avery Curley helped Episcopal Academy open up the Inter-Ac League portion of its schedule on a strong note by scoring three goals in a 6-0 win over visiting Germantown Academy.
Curley also added an assist for the Churchwomen (3-4 overall, 1-0 league).

Penn Charter got a pair of second-half goals to break a tie and win, 4-2, at Springside. Dani Bembry, Grace McInerney, Ali Rosen, and Allison Thompson scored for the Quakers.
Katie Gerzabek scored half of Notre Dame’s goals in an 8-1 win over visiting Agnes Irwin.

Public

Juanita Velasquez needed to make only three saves to get the shutout for host Northeast in a 2-0 win over Girls High.

Central

Kelsey LeBlanc scored twice as host Haverford High coasted to a 5-1 win over Garnet Valley.


Helene Caniglia’s goal gave host Radnor a 1-0 win over Ridley.
Brooke Shea scored twice for Springfield (Delaware County) in a 5-1 win at Penncrest.

Conestoga scored three first-half goals in a 4-2 win over visiting Harriton.

Goals by Emily Michael and Maddy Wharton gave Strath Haven a 2-1 win at Marple Newtown.

Kelly Pond had a hat trick for Bristol in a 5-3 win at Calvary Christian.

Rachel Orlow scored three goals as Great Valley coasted to a 5-0 win at Unionville.

Maria Miller’s goal with 17 minutes left gave Avon Grove a 2-1 win at Bishop Shanahan.

Michelle Bloomer’s goal gave host West Chester Rustin the lead for good in a 2-0 win over Kennett.

Keira Zambon’s second-half goal gave host Merion Mercy a 2-1 win over Mount St. Joseph.
Monica O’Hara also scored for the Golden Bears. Brooke Sabia scored for the Magic.

Madelein Brownsey scored both goals for host St. Basil in a 2-2 tie with Nazareth Academy.

Villa Maria used two goals from Ali McGonigle to beat host Villa Joseph Marie, 5-0.

Hannah Rush’s score gave host Sacred Heart a 1-0 win over Gwynedd-Mercy.

Friends Schools

Brooke Truskey’s goal 30 seconds into overtime gave Shipley a 2-1 win at Westtown.
Ellie Andersen scored the other goal for the Gators.

Katie Garfinkel’s two goals powered host Germantown Friends past Friends’ Central, 3-0.

Nonleague

Joe Forte’s second goal of the game, four minutes into overtime, gave host Academy Park a 3-2 win over Delco Christian.
Ashley O’Donnell assisted on the game-winner. Forte also assisted on the only other goal for the Vanguards, by Kelly Curci. Camille Williams scored with 3:13 left in the second half to force overtime.

Host George School got goals from Hilary Pearsall and Willa Rowland in a 2-1 win over Princeton Day (N.J.).

Jenn Pirri’s two goals lifted host Perkiomen School past Quakertown Christian, 2-0.

Chloe Baro neeed only three saves in goal to register the shutout for Pottsgrove in a 2-0 win at Lansdale Catholic.
