Football: Group 2 ruminations

It's one week, OK.

So there's a lot of football to be played, OK.

But it's not too soo to get excited about the possibilities in the S.J. Group 2 tournament.

Delsea, the defending sectional champion, opened the season with a 35-0 win over Cumberland.

West Deptford, last season's runner-up, opened with a 37-7 win over Lindenwold.

Haddonfield, a legitimate contender, opened with a 48-0 win over Gateway.

Bridgeton upset St. Joseph's of Hammonton.

Camden stunned Camden Catholic.

That's five teams right there, and that doesn't count a couple Shore Conference clubs likely to be in the mix as well as some other traditional South Jersey contenders that could emerge.

Delsea still is the pick. But this tournament could be wild.
