Football: N-G's Szydlik to take leave of absence

Due to career and family commitments, C.J. Szydlik is taking a leave of absence from coaching football at Neumann-Goretti.

Szydlik's father, Chalie, who was serving as an assistant at N-G, will take over the Saints on an interim basis. He previously was the head coach at North Catholic from 2004 to 2009.

Last year, N-G went 6-5 overall and 3-1 in Catholic League Class AA play. The squad bowed to West Catholic, 34-9, in a playoff semifinal.

C.J. Szydlik said he plans to help coach the Saints next season.
