Del-Val Charter has tabbed Jamel Newtown, who was a volunteer assistant with the Warriors, as its new head football coach.

Newton replaces Shelton Farmer, who was fired following a bench-clearing brawl in Saturday afternoon's Public League Class AA game at Roxborough.

PIAA District 12 chairman Robert Coleman ruled that game, which Del-Val was leading by 12-7 in the second quarter, a double forfeit.

In addition to having to forfeit Saturday's game against Imhotep Charter, Del-Val officials decided to forfeit a second upcoming game (Oct. 11 versus High School of the Future) and not participate in the playoffs this season.

Roxborough has also forfeited Thursday's scheduled nonleague contest versus Mastbaum.
