St. Joseph's Prep senior guard Steve Vasturia has been named Gatorade boys' basketball player of the year for Pennsylvania.

In leading the Hawks to the PIAA Class AAAA state semifinals, the 6-foot-5, 190-pounder averaged 20.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.

Vasturia, bound for Notre Dame, finished his career at the Prep with 1,764 points. He shot 378 for 424 (89.2 percent) from the free-throw line.
