Senior quarterback Chris Geiss was responsible for all four touchdowns for Great Valley as the Patriots beat Phoenixville, 26-13, Friday night. Geiss scored threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two more in an impressive start to the Patriots’ season.
Phoenixville scored first with an 8-yard touchdown run by senior Sean Hesser but the extra point was missed.
Great Valley then scored 26 straight points starting with a 48-yard pass to senior Steven Praplaski. Geiss ran in a 1-yard touchdown before the end of the second quarter but a missed extra point kept the score at 13-6. Another Geiss rushing touchdown, this one from eight yards out, made it 20-6, and then he connected with Praplaski again on a long touchdown pass to put the game out of reach.
Senior Ryan Yenchick added a short touchdown run for Phoenixville later in the fourth but it was too little, too late. Great Valley heads home for two straight home games next against Academy Park and Penn Wood.
