Eric Wiafe, a tight end-defensive end who will be a senior in the fall at Egg Harbor Township, has made an oral comment to attend Rutgers.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Wiafe said he made his commitment on Tuesday and that he was recruited to play defense.
He was a starter at tight end for EHT and played defensive end toward the end of the season as well.
“I liked the program and coaching staff,” he said about making his decision to Rutgers.
Wiafe said he heard from former EHT standout Tejay Johnson, who is a redshirt freshman cornerback at Rutgers.
“He called me earlier tonight and told me he’d like to have me up there and said I’d be a good fit there,” Wiafe said.
Wiafe added that he had offers from the University of Buffalo and Massachusetts.
