Eastern Completes Perfect Season

EWING, NJ –A season of dominance ended in familiar fashion for Eastern’s field hockey team. Applying consistent pressure all game, Eastern concluded a perfect season with Sunday’s 5-2 win over West Essex in the Tournament of Champion final at the College of New Jersey.

EWING, NJ –A season of dominance ended in familiar fashion for Eastern’s field hockey team. Applying consistent pressure all game, Eastern concluded a perfect season with Sunday’s 5-2 win over West Essex in the Tournament of Champion final at the College of New Jersey.

Thus the Vikings finished 27-0 in earning their fourth TOC title since the inception of the tournament in 2006.

The Vikings took a 4-1 halftime lead on goals from Kasey Morano, Emma Johansson, Erin Hoag and Karlee Spirit.

Vikings’ freshman Austyn Cuneo increased the lead to 5-1 with 16:29 left in the second half. That was Cuneo’s 69th goal of the season, tying the single-season state mark shared by Eastern Kelsey Mitchell in 2009 and West Essex’s Michelle Vizzuso in 1994.
