Robert Bergholtz has been named the new Camden Catholic baseball coach, replacing Bob Moffett who stepped down after 23 years.
Bergholtz is a 1995 graduate of Camden Catholic, who coached the previous five years at Germantown Friends. Among the players he coached was lefthander Jesse Biddle, the Phillies first round draft choice in 2010.
In his five seasons Bergholtz guided Germantown Friends to four Friends League championships.
“Coaching athletes who come from such well-rounded, diverse experiences has been a great pleasure,” said Bergholtz in a press release issued by the school. “Camden Catholic’s reputation, along with its mission of ‘seeking to develop leaders who are rooted in Gospel values and committed to meeting the challenges of building a just society’ are part of what makes the position so attractive.”
