Phil Anastasia: Holy Cross advances to South B final

Holy Cross advanced to the Non-Public South B title game with a 6-2 victory over St. Rose Thursday at Wall.

Jeff Singer pitched a complete game, allowoing six hits with nine strikeouts.

John Adryan delivered ghe big hit for the Lancers with a two-run single in a four-run rally in the top of the seventh.

Adryan also doubled and scored in the second.

Holy Cross is likely to face top-ranked Gloucester Catholic, which plays its semifinal on Friday, in the South B final Tuesday at Overbrook.

Because Holy Cross' semifinal was Thursday, Singer will be eligible to come back and pitch seven or more innings on Tuesday.

That could work in the Lancers' favor if they play Gloucester Catholic, as the Rams have a lot of left-handed hitters.
