Phil Anastasia: St. Augustine beats Holy Cross in Diamond
Barry Buchowski hit the first grand slam of his life as St. Augustine Prep beat Holy Cross 13-3 Sunday in the Diamond Classic.
Buchowski, a sophomore catcher, also drove in the winning run in a game that ended after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
St. Augustine (16-2), the No. 2 team in The Inquirer Top 10, advances to face No. 3 Washington Township Saturday at 10:30 at Deptford in the Diamond quarterfinals.
Other Diamond quarters: Gloucester Catholic vs. Paul VI, Buena vs. Holy Spirit and Eastern vs. Cherokee.
Jon Adryan hit a two-run homer for No. 5 Holy Cross (16-3).
