Bill Iezzi: West Deptford Settles Question

For those of you who wondered whether Collingswood should have been ranked ahead of West Deptford in The Inquirer's Top 10, check out the score of their Friday  night match.

No. 7 West Deptford defeated the host Panthers 34-21.

Collingswood coach Dechlin Moody told me before the match that a couple of his wrestlers were out with knee injuries: senior Steve Shields at 130 and sophomore Donte Lewis at 119.

Shields' record is 18-8. Lewis is at 6-11. But even with Shields in the lineup, the Panthers would not have won. They needed to excell between 140 and 160. However, they won only one bout in that four-bout cluster.

That's why West Deptford is at No. 7 and Collingswood at No. 9.
