S.J. Basketball: Rancocas Valley stuns Holy Spirit

Tariq Jett scored eight points in the fourth quarter, including a layup off a steal that gave Rancocas Valley the lead with 1:40 on the clock, to lift the Red Devils to a 62-58 victory over No. 2 Holy Spirit in the Battle by the Bay in Atlantic City. Dom Twitty scored 16, Kenny Johnson 13 and Kareem Jones for Rancocas Valley (10-6). Asmar Williams scored 26 for Holy Spirit (14-2), which had won 13 in a row since a one-point loss to Shawnee on Dec. 19. Holy Spirit had a chance to tie, inbounding the ball under Rancocas Valley's basket with 6.5 seconds to play, trailing 60-58. But Johnson made a steal at halfcourt and cruised in for a dunk at the buzzer. "That was icing," Johnson said. -- Phil Anastasia
