S.J. Field Hockey: Eastern wins 12th straight state title

Carly Celkos and Brittany Evangelisti scored second-half goals as Eastern won its 12th consecutive Group 4 state title in field hockey with a 2-0 victory over Bridgewater-Raritan Sunday at Toms River East.

Eastern (25-0) got a strong game from junior goalie Alana Barry and overcame Bridgewater-Raritan's defensive style to extend its national record for consecutive state titles.

The Vikings will be the No. 1 seed in the Tournament of Champions, which begins Wednesday.

"It gets better and better," Evangelisti said. "It never gets old."
