N.J. Tennis: Haddonfield falls in Tournament of Champions

Fourth-seeded Red Bank Catholic upset top-seeded Haddonfield by a 3-2 score Tuesday in the semifinals of the Tournament of Champions in girls' tennis at Inman Sports Club in Edison.

Fourth-seeded Red Bank Catholic upset top-seeded Haddonfield by a 3-2 score Tuesday in the semifinals of the Tournament of Champions in girls' tennis at Inman Sports Club in Edison.

Haddonfield (31-1), the defending champions, got victories from the first doubles team of Meghan Burns and Catherine Senolpoulos and the second doubles team of Rebecca Senopoulos and Victoria Martinez.

Haddonfield's Taylor Ng lost at No. 1 singles and Martha Theodoris lost at No. 2 singles.

The swing match was at No. 3 singles. Red Bank Catholic sophomore Jenna Pellegrino rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Haddonfield senior Spencer Ng to decide the match.

It was Haddonfield's first loss since 2008. The Bulldogs had won 63 matches in a row.
