Funny stuff at tonight's Science Festival
"Life, Sex, Death (and Food): A Historical Look at the Science That Drives Us" - a performance by real comedians and real scientists (really together) - is tonight at the Philadelphia Science Festival in Old City.
On Tuesday we hosted a spirited (and not just because of the beer) discussion about public health in a Philadelphia Science Festival event at Triumph Brewery - an excellent venue, it turns out, for Drexel public health dean Marla Gold to explain the public health action pyramid using a slice of pizza.
The really funny stuff is on tap tonight, when historians and comedians will dramatize events in the public health and medical past in "Life, Sex, Death (and Food): A Historical Look at the Science That Drives Us." Comedians from the Philadelphia Improv Theater and historians from Drexel (that would be me), Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and the Philadelphia Area Center for the History of Science will gather at 7 p.m. at the Chemical Heritage Society, 315 Chestnut St. It's a bargain at $10 (or an even bigger bargain for $15, which includes drinks).
