The women's distance medley relay definitely did not go according to plan for Villanova.
Coming into the race, the Wildcats were hyped as the favorites to not just win the Championship of America, but perhaps set a new record as well.
Instead, coach Gina Procaccio watched her team get off to a slow start in the first leg, then drop the baton in the second leg. That put the Wildcats out of contention, and Georgetown ended up winning.
That the Hoyas won was no upset, though, as they came in as one of the Wildcats' top challengers. Georgetown also had some ties to our area: Ocean City, N.J., native Renee Tomlin ran the first leg, and Manahawkin, N.J., native Chelsea Cox ran the third leg.
