200 meters in 19.20 seconds.

Seriously.

And people said Michael Johnson's 19.32 would never be broken.

But Usain Bolt clocked 19.30 last year, and now he's taken 1/10th of a second off his own world record.

If you didn't see it live, here's the video:

We are witnessing one of the most dominant sprinters in track history and it is impressive. No one can touch him. If he would truly run the 100 he could probably get it under 9 seconds and he will definitely take the 200 below 19 seconds. It simply does not get any better and he is a young man who will get stronger. Look out world and it is an absolute delight for the rest of us. What a treat!

More prominent coverage of track & field would help more people enjoy and this great athlete's achievements. We could also benefit from less coverage of eating contests.

About Jonathan Tannenwald
I fell in love with the Big 5 at first sight upon moving to Philadelphia in 2002. At various points in my journalistic career, I've covered all six of the region's Division I teams. During that time, I've eaten many soft pretzels from the Palestra's concession stands, which is how this blog got its name.

I write primarily about the University of Pennsylvania and the Ivy League, but I also cover the other basketball and football teams across the city from time to time. In the spring, you'll find coverage of the Penn Relays here.

In addition to all of that, I write Philly.com's soccer blog, The Goalkeeper.
