This week's Football Crunchy Numbers

Sorry it took me so long to get this up; I'm still decompressing from last night's wild Eagles game.

After reading all about DeSean Jackson's premature touchdown celebration, I came across some big news on the local college scene. Villanova linebacker Mike Holland and running back Luca Ragone have been suspended from the team for their involvement in an on-campus altercation last weekend.

As the Daily News story in the above link reports, it's not clear how or when the suspensions will end. What is known is that the weekly local college football coaches' luncheon is tomorrow, and with the Villanova-Penn game coming up Saturday I'm sure Andy Talley will be there. We'll see if he talks about the suspensions.

Nationally, here's the TV schedule for this week's games from Awful Announcing, and here's the latest Forde-Yard Dash.

Now for the rankings.

On to the Top 10 comparison. I find a few things notable: Jeff McLane putting Ohio State at No. 10 in his AP ballot; BYU jumping into the Sagarin Top 10 after blowing out UCLA; Oklahoma overtaking Georgia for the No. 2 spot in the AP and Coaches' polls; and Alabama rising above Auburn in the AP poll.

I suspect that last part got some folks talking in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. The Eagles and Cowboys have a great rivalry, but I'm not sure anything at any level of football matches the intensity and passion of the Iron Bowl.

What do you think?
