The sincerest form of flattery

Okay, I have one last post before the weekend.

Some of you know that I'm a voter in the D.C. Sports Bog Atlantic 11 poll, the ranking of college basketball teams in the Washington area on one of the Washington Post's main sports blogs.

I've thought for a while about doing something similar for the Philadelphia region, and I've finally decided that now is the time to try it.

Right now, these are the teams I'm thinking of having in the rankings:

- The Big 5 and Drexel
- Penn State
- Delaware and Delaware State
- Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell
- Rutgers, Princeton and Rider

That's 15 teams, which is a reasonably round number as polls go. Some of those teams are pretty far from Philadelphia, but the Post's poll includes Loyola in Baltimore, Virginia Commonwealth and Old Dominion. I'd like this poll to be as wide-ranging as makes sense.

Crunchy Numbers, however, would stay as just the City Six. I definitely don't have the time to do stats for all the teams in the poll, and the focus of the blog will remain on the six as always.

But I've got the technology to do a poll that would calculate the votes automatically within Philly.com's content management system, so I think I'm ready to give it a shot.

If you're interested in participating, or if you have suggestions for other teams, please let me know. Especially if you think I can steal one of the teams from the Atlantic 11.

This thing also needs a catchy name, so feel free to send along ideas for that as well.

Have a good weekend.
