Clearing the cobwebs out of here for a moment...
The Atlantic 10 has announced the slate of home-and-home matchups for the coming men's college basketball season, and there's at least a little bit of good news for Big 5 fans.
Temple will play St. Joe's and La Salle twice each, as well as Fordham. That's good. But there will only be one St. Joe's-La Salle game, which is not so good, even if it's the norm.
St. Joe's will play home and away against UMass and Richmond in addition to the Owls. La Salle will have two games against the Minutemen and George Washington.
I am not a scheduling expert, and I've never pretended to play one on the Internet. I usually think arguing about schedules is useless, because there are good reasons for things being the way they are. The only person I've ever met who has successfully changed a schedule after its release was Mother Nature.
Still, I wonder if someone in Newport News could have figured out a way to get all the Big 5 teams to play each other twice.
Just a thought.
