Scottie Reynolds not named Big East Player of the Year

Reynolds had been tipped by some people - okay, many people - to win the prize after he was the only unanimous selection to the All-Big East First Team.

PRINCETON, N.J. - Syracuse forward Wesley Johnson has been named the Big East's Player of the year.

Johnson beat Villanova guard Scottie Reynolds to the honor. Reynolds had been tipped by some people - okay, many people - to win the prize after he was the only unanimous selection to the All-Big East First Team.

(What's that, you say? Something about the headline? It looks right to me.)

Orange coach Jim Boeheim was named the conference coach of the year, Cincinnati's Lance Stephenson was named the top rookie and Notre Dame's Tim Abromaitis was named the top scholar athlete.

I'm not surprised, personally. For as well as Reynolds has played, Johnson has been a force both on offense and defense. Maybe things would have been different if Villanova had won at the Carrier Dome, but it's too late now.

I'll be back later this evening for live coverage of Penn at Princeton. sUntil then, the floor is yours.
