Greetings from the Palestra on a day full of great games to watch.
The Temple-Ohio MAC East football title took place before I put together the Spectacle of the Week poll, so unfortunately they're excluded. But there are a number of great rivalry games this weekend to vote on, as well as Charlie Weis' last loss appearance as Notre Dame's head coach.
There's also a full slate of college hoops. Xavier and Creighton meet in Orlando, Butler and UCLA clash in Anaheim, and Connecticut faces Duke in the Preseason NIT final at Madison Square Garden.
There are also multiple "tournaments" in the Philadelphia region. Drexel is hosting Toledo, Vermont and Cornell in the poor half of the Legends Classic bracket at the DAC, while the rich half (Michigan State, Florida, Rutgers and Massachusetts) are at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
And seven schools are making their way here to 33rd Street for the Philly Classic: Brown, University of the Sciences, Siena, St. John's, Virginia Tech, Temple and Delaware.
I'll be courtside from start to finish of today's tripleheader, so come on in.
Soft Pretzel Logic is Philly.com's college sports blog, with a primary focus on the University of Pennsylvania. You'll also see coverage of the Big 5, other major college sports events in the region, and the annual Penn Relays track and field meet.
