Live coverage: Day 1 of the 2012 Penn Relays

For as many other things as always seem to be going on at this time of year, the Penn Relays remain one of the most fun events on the Philadelphia sports calendar.

This time of year is always one of the most crowded on the Philadelphia sports calendar. With the NFL Draft, the Stanley Cup playoffs and the Phillies all in full swing, lots of other events are pushed to the back burner.

But the Penn Relays remain one of the most fun things I get to cover. That's even more the case when the Olympics are just a few months away.

So for yet another year, I've set up shop on press row at Franklin Field for the weekend. I'll be bringing you live coverage of all three days of the 118th edition of America's oldest and largest outdoor track meet.

There will also be guest contributions from The Inquirer's Joe Juliano and Phil Anastasia, and perhaps a few other surprises too. Stay tuned.

As always, I want this to be an interactive thing. It would be great to hear about your Penn Relays memories, and if there are any particular races you want to know about I'll be happy to pass along those results.
