I know emotions are going to be raw for many of you in the wake of the Eagles' nasty loss to the Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game.
But the end of the football season in Philadelphia means that at long last, we can try to devote the attention to college basketball that it really deserves.
In some parts of the country, College Basketball Independence Day is celebrated when the college football season ends.
But as we all know, around here the holiday doesn't come until the Eagles head to the locker room for the last time.
I watched Charlotte-St. Joe's on TV this afternoon and was disappointed by the crowd, as many of us have been by many games' attendances this season. Hopefully between now and the end of the season, attendance and general interest locally will increase with the Eagles off the radar.
Oh, and by the way, that little parking lot between Franklin Field and the Palestra is officially closed as of today. Penn is beginning its renovation project to the outer wing of that part of the stadium, which will be enclosed with a new student fitness center and other amenities.
Between that and the South Street Bridge, getting around there for basketball and the Penn Relays is going to be really hard. But hopefully it won't keep too many of you away, and as a reminder, here's the info sheet put together by the Penn Athletic Department about alternate parking and transportation.
I'll be back tomorrow with the new Schuylkill 16 rankings.
