Good morning from the DAC. The excitement is building as the sellout crowd makes its way inside from the freezing cold and ESPN's cameras get ready to broadcast today's Penn-Drexel game nationwide.

It's the 21st meeting between the two schools, and Penn leads the series 15-5. But it's the first time the teams have met at the DAC, which will add some extra spice to this all-University City rivalry.

I see 76ers GM (and Penn alum) Ed Stefanski is here, and Pennsyvlania Gov. Ed Rendell is expected to be here as well. There were rumors that Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter would be here, but since a city police officer was killed in a car crash last night, it wouldn't surprise me if Nutter gets an excused absence today.

Before we get the live blog started, two quick reminders. First be sure to tell me which City Six team you root for by voting in the Readership Survey. Then after the game, send in your fan photos for the Fan Photo of the Week contest.

With that out of the way, let's get this thing going.

GO Drexel, even though Drexel's school spirit is only about a 12%....

About Jonathan Tannenwald
I fell in love with the Big 5 at first sight upon moving to Philadelphia in 2002. At various points in my journalistic career, I've covered all six of the region's Division I teams. During that time, I've eaten many soft pretzels from the Palestra's concession stands, which is how this blog got its name.

I write primarily about the University of Pennsylvania and the Ivy League, but I also cover the other basketball and football teams across the city from time to time. In the spring, you'll find coverage of the Penn Relays here.

In addition to all of that, I write Philly.com's soccer blog, The Goalkeeper.
