Temple shot 64 percent from the field in the second half, making seven of 11 three-point attempts, and snapped Villanova's record Big 5 winning streak in front of 8.449 at the Liacouras Center.

It was the Wildcats' first City Series loss since falling to St. Joe's at the Palestra, 77-55, on February 4, 2008. Their winning streak was seven straight; their last loss before that was to Temple, 53-52, at the Palestra on December 4, 2004.

(That was the game where Dustin Salisbery hit the open three and Randy Foye missed the layup at the buzzer.)

No. 3 Villanova was the highest-ranked team to fall to the Owls since Temple won at No. 1 Cincinnati, 77-69, on February 22, 2000. That was Kenyon Martin's senior year with the Bearcats.

It's also exactly one year to the day since the Owls' 88-72 win over No. 8 Tennessee at the Liacouras Center.

Today, Juan Fernandez scored 33 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 7-of-9 from three-point range. Ryan Brooks added 20, while Lavoy Allen scored 10 points and pulled down 17 rebounds.

Scottie Reynolds led Villanova with 23 points and seven rebounds. Corey Fisher tallied 14 points and 7 assists.

There's not full audio of the postgame press conferences,  because I was in a hurry to get my video equipment set up. So the video highlights are a bit longer than usual, and you can watch them in the player at right.

Fernandez will get all the headlines, and he should. But considering how much I criticized Lavoy Allen's game during the liveblog, I think I owe him Line of the Game honors after this performance.

And by the way, remember how we all made a big deal out of those threes Taylor King hit in the first half? Well, he didn't even attempt a field goal in the second half. That's a real testament to Temple's defense.
